Hey guys. Many of you have been loyal to me since my early days at WNBC and I am forever grateful. Now as I try to reinvent myself and launch new adventures without the aid of TV exposure everyday, I find it to be a very daunting task.
I’m too young to retire, nor do I ever want to. I’m apparently too old for traditional TV. So here I find myself trying to set off on defining my purpose in a new way. Our podcast “The Middle Age Warriors” has been one creation out of this time of my life. I hope it can help others navigate through this strange time of rediscovery. Hell. Maybe just discovery.

None of this comes easy, despite appearances. For any one of our personal problems, there are usually many others who have it even worse. However, our own pain is just that, our own.
I’ve been out of work for over 8 months now. The longest stretch since I was 19. Today’s world of social media allows you to keep your voice and face in the public, but in general, this is not a paying job.
I’m trying to produce something that will be relevant and helpful to all of you out there that have supported me in the past. We are all a bit on this journey together.
I have been putting out this blog since September and just launched my podcast a couple of weeks ago. Lately the blog seems to be losing it’s following. Perhaps it’s my topics. I’ve said from the beginning this undertaking is also going to be driven a lot by your feedback. Tell me what you want to hear and see from me. That’s the only way this is going to work and continue.
I’ve got some video and streaming ideas I would like to launch, but like everything in the world there is a cost to produce these. You all know about my passion for weather, travel & wine. I’m toying with a weekly video show “Chris & Friends W(h)ine about the weather where I discuss some of my favorite wines & pairings and price as well as the impact of global warming on the wine industry and eventually us, the consumers.
I’ve considered a daily weather video show with myself or occasionally with my weather friend, John Marshall. I’m also working on another podcast idea called “Climate Change: It’s Not a Religion”.
Bottom line is the bottom line. I need your help in telling me what you would most want to see from me as well as any other suggestions. I hope for, and would greatly appreciate any feedback. That includes good, bad or indifferent. I believe there is something out there that we can all be part of together that’s fun and rewarding for all of us.
Sunshine Always!
Miss you On NBC every morning, not the same without you and John. What were they thinking?
The internet really has pulled the rug out from under us, hasn’t it? I spent my whole working life in publishing and journalism, and now that every 12-year-old has a blog and a YouTube channel, it’s impossible to make a living. In addition to nothing being copy-edited or proofread anymore.
You need a lot of energy to sell yourself 24/7, but you seem to have that, plus media savvy. You’re “young middle aged” and good-looking; are there any media companies familiar with your work that might want someone on-staff online?
Hi Chris,
I grew up watching you on NBC. I am a 44 year old teacher and I think you need to focus on sharing more about weather changes, day to day changes that we New Yorkers can do to care for the environment and to continue to remind us that the rollercoaster we are on is worth it every day the sun rises.
Maybe you can feature stories of like minded people in the community that are making a difference…. from the elderly to the children.
Reach out to our schools….we need smart, positive, scientists to inspire elementary school kids too.
When the pandemic is over, reintroduce your readers to this amazing city with food, culture, purpose and a sustainability message.
Maybe the middle-aged niche is a bit narrow… you are way more than that… you are Chris Cimino!!!!
Take care and look forward to all you do.
