About Me
Working look…
I’ve been in the blogosphere for over 5 years now. My life has been through many changes in those 5 years. I aged from my 50s into my 60s. I have a new wife, became a grandfather, and a new job. For those not familiar with me or my life, below is a quick encapsulation.
My name is Chris Cimino and I’ve been a TV meteorologist for over 30 years. Twenty-four of those years were spent at the flagship station of the NBC network, WNBC in New York City . Nearly 21 of those years were as the early morning meteorologist for Today In New York, the newscast that preceded the Today Show.
Over the years I had the privilege of filling in for Al Roker on the Today Show as well as a two year run as the regular Saturday morning weather caster for the Weekend Today Show.
In July of 2019 I found myself unemployed for the first time since I was 19 years old. Suffice to say that was a little more than a couple of years ago.
I’ve been through a lot in the last 10 years of my life. Often more than I thought I could handle. As each challenge arose I thought “how am I going to do this?” Somehow I did. I’m sure there are more ahead of me.
I want this blog to share that journey. I know many more of you out there have taken on much more and conquered. I would love to hear those stories as I share mine with you.
The match clearly points to heading to the second half of the back nine. If you’re not a golfer(I’m not), it simply means every day from this point forward is precious. In getting to your 50’s and beyond there are new challenges but also new joys and freedoms to be had. I hope I can share with you this journey in an honest and optimistic approach.
As Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull(apologies for those who never heard of them) said in a great lyric, “Life’s a long song…..life’s a long song……if you wait then your plate I will fill.”
